Take a Hike
One of the reasons why I love going home to Los Angeles is the fact that I always find myself closer to nature and less caught up in the craziness of my life. There’s something special about getting away from the city that never sleeps and escaping to a town that slows down to smell the fresh air (literally). Although I always find time to hike near my family’s home, I had the chance to finally walk Runyon Canyon in the Hollywood hills. The views were breath taking, the people were so much fun to look at, and of course, I had amazing company. After a hike that kicked my butt into shape, my best friend took me down to Melrose for some good ole healthy smoothies and acai bowls. The sun was shining as we sat on Melrose taking in the day and Los Angeles never looked better. I had this realization that in order to fully enjoy life, sometimes you have to stop and take in the day for all of its beauty and the little things like acai bowls that make you happy. Next time you find yourself in LA, take the time to just go take a hike…

Fashion Friday: Be Bold and Wear Stripes.
I really can’t believe summer is over. I feel so guilty for not posting as much as I used to. Slowly I have come to the realization that as long as what’s keeping me from blogging is something that I am truly passionate about like work, friends, and traveling, then maybe I don’t have to be so rough on myself. Although summer is over, I have to admit that fall is my favorite time of year, as with fall comes Thanksgiving, family, my birthday, and of course, fall fashion. Cheers to even more adventures…
Fishing
I have such vivid memories of growing up by the ocean in Marina Del Rey, and every chance we had, my father would take us out on our boat so we could go fishing. Well, over the years we moved and I slowly got further and further away from the world of fishing and boating. I remember loving to fish and having the best luck on the water. After all, it is just luck, right? I had the pleasure of joining my father on a fishing trip recently. I went on the trip trying to prove to myself that I actually was super passionate about fishing. After a whole 6 hours on a rocking boat with smelly fish, horrendous pelicans eating my bait, and absolutely no catches, I realized that it wasn’t the fishing I was passionate about, it was the time I was spending with my father that I loved.

Music Festival Groupie
Summer means time for music festivals. I found myself soaking up the sun and channeling my inner hippie at Governor’s Ball on Saturday. Overall, the bands were not that great, but I lasted long enough to enjoy my love for dancing, sunbathing, and weirdo people watching. Although I was entertained, I realized quickly that my idea of a music festival isn’t the same as many of those who were there, and that again, it might not really be my thing. Next year, I might just save myself for Coachella.

Dreaming of the Weekend. Happy Friday Everyone!
Gardening
Yesterday I spent some time giving back to the community and gardening in the Lower East Side of New York City for L’Oreal’s annual volunteer day. In summary, it was a disaster and nothing made sense to me. To give you an idea of what was going on in my head the whole time: What is mulch made of exactly? Why am I recovering this hill of perfectly good looking plants with ugly mulch? How come we aren’t removing all the dead leaves? I wonder if I can find a good spot to lay out and get some sun? So, that’s what weeds looks like!
Overall, it turned into “let’s just let Crystal pick up all the trash and go eat some pizza”. It’s safe to say I’ll never be a gardener.
Cheers to giving back!
